During the summer of 2001 Kay and I canoed a couple hundred miles of the Thelon River, a Canadian arctic river straddling the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. We spent a wonderful 16 days on the river and exploring the tundra, capped off with a visit from a few thousand members of the Beverly Lake caribou herd. You can find a couple of excellent trip reports about the Thelon, written by Rolf and Debra Kraiker here. Many thanks to Tundra Tom and Great Canadian Ecoventures who provided our air transport and trip advice. |
